The voice sounds different on Weather or Translate It

Weather and Translate It are spoken by our server, which needs an internet connection. With no signal, the app reads the line in your iPhone's own French voice instead and says so under the button. Anything you have heard before is kept on your phone and plays without a connection.

It says today's spoken French is used up

Each copy of the app gets forty new spoken lines in any rolling day, because every one costs us money to generate. Lines you have heard before do not count, and neither do weather lines someone else has already heard. Until the allowance comes back, the app uses your iPhone's own French voice.

Woman or man

French Sayings, Weather and Translate It each have a Female and Male switch. It is one setting: change it on any of those screens and the others follow.

Translate It shows a message instead of translating

Translation uses Apple's own translation, which runs on your phone and needs iOS 18 or later. The first time, your iPhone may offer to download French — let it finish, then try again.

Where my photographs go

Nowhere. Pictures added to the User Gallery are stored privately inside the app on your own device. They are never uploaded. There is no account and no sharing. Deleting the app deletes them, so move anything you want to keep back into Photos first.

Something in the writing is wrong

Please tell us. The entries were checked against the places and organisations they describe, but opening hours, prices and exhibitions in Paris change often. If something is out of date or wrong, mail us the entry name and what is wrong with it and it gets fixed in the next update.

A link goes to the wrong place

Links point at whoever actually runs a place, and they reorganise their websites without telling us. Send the entry name and we will repoint it.

Does it work on iPad?

Yes. The app runs in portrait on both iPhone and iPad.
